It’s been an extraordinary year for Brisbane based endurance driver Liam Talbot, having returned from Europe with the Am-Class victory in the Blancpain Endurance Series. This weekend Talbot will be looking to make his mark on the latest round of the Australian Endurance Championship (AEC) at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park in New Zealand.
A regular in the Australian GT Series, Talbot is competing with the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia team in the Skwirk Audi R8 RMS Ultra with team mate Jake Fouracre. Having enjoyed ongoing success with the Audi Sport team, the Australian Endurance Series has allowed Talbot to continue his GT assault closer to home.
In an exciting development for the series, not only will race fans be able to catch the race broadcast live on Fox Sports, complementing this will be an online stream which will be available to fans globally, providing the most extensive coverage for an Australian GT event in the category’s history.
The inaugural Hampton Downs 101 (October 28-30) is the first event to be held at the newly redeveloped circuit, and marks the penultimate round of the CAMS Australian Endurance Championship before the competition heads to Highlands Motorsport Park for the final event of the year two weeks later (November 11-13).
Team comments:
-Liam Talbot (Team Driver LTR) – I’m always excited to jump back in the Audi, as it was my introduction to GT3 racing. It’s such a strong platform run by a great team.
-With the European season over for 2016, I’m enjoying being able to focus all my efforts on the Australian Endurance Championship. It’s such an exciting category to be involved with and I’m hoping that we can make a strong push this round.
-Seeing the growth of the GT category both internationally and at home, it’s exciting to continue our long term goals of endurance racing, right here in Australia.
David Hardman (Team Director LTR) – Returning from the cut and thrust of Europe I’ve been impressed with the level of professionalism in the Audi Sport Customer Racing program locally. We’ve worked with the team at Audi Sport off and on since 2014 and their Australian organization is world class. The AEC provides an amazing field and we’re certainly looking to produce a strong result in the Audi. I’m excited about the race weekend ahead.
