It was back to battling on home turf over the weekend for Liam Talbot. Joining co-driver Jake Fouracre behind the wheel of the Skwirk Audi R8 LMS Ultra, the pair lined up for the Sydney Motorsport Park 101.
The weekend started strong settling back into a rhythm in the Audi straight away. With both Liam and Jake having considerable time in the Audi, it was quickly seen as the race got underway.
The pair punched the R8 through the field taking it up to a consistent third position in the field and even leading the charge at times.
Right through to lap number 100 of the 101 it was looking like a strong result was in the bag.
As always in racing, you can never count on a result until that chequered flag drops.
On lap 100, another competitor made contact with the Audi causing a flat tyre. Limping to the finish line, the pair still managed to secure 10th position.
Not exactly the race ending we were going for, but still one that we’re pleased with considering the circumstances.
The next event heads to the newly extended Hampton Downs for Round 3 of the Australian Endurance Championship (October 28-30).

-Liam Talbot (Team Driver LTR) – I was genuinely excited to be able to race locally again, to be able to have family and friends trackside was just the best. It was so exciting to have all the local support.
– It’s amazing to see the growth of GT here in Australia and this event proved the strength of the category. It had it all with a strong fight on track. It wasn’t meant to be today, but we’ve got another chance to bring it home when we head to New Zealand in October.
David Hardman (Team Director LTR) – It was a tough result for the team after such a strong performance all weekend. Talbot and Fouracre have really gelled in the Audi and it looked like we’d be at the pointy end of the field in those closing laps. It’s what keeps racing so exciting and brings such enormous value to the wins. They don’t come easily, you’ve got to fight for it every time.
