Liam Talbot has delivered a maiden win for MEGA Racing in the final race of the second round of Australian GT at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix aboard his Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Starting on the second row, Talbot was supreme in avoiding the opening corner issues and then set about using the Pirelli rubber at his disposal for maximum advantage.

The Walkinshaw GT3 prepared Porsche 911 GT3 R was phenomenal on the first Safety Car restart and gave Talbot the ability to push to the lead.

Soon after another intervention was triggered, which then setup a single lap run to the flag.

The Blancpain Endurance Series Champion controlled the pace perfectly from the lead and pulled clear on the final lap run.

It was Talbot’s first individual race win in Australian GT and his second overall race win.

It was the first win for the Porsche 911 GT3 R in Australia, the first for MEGA Racing and the first for the Walkinshaw GT3 division – which couldn’t have been more fitting coming in front of the Formula 1 paddock where the Walkinshaw brand has such a strong history.

Talbot finished the weekend third overall, adding another solid swag of points to his Championship.

From here, the Championship heads to Perth in May.

LIAM’S LOWDOWN – AUSTRALIAN GT – RACE 4 – 1st:
“What an unbelievable feeling to get my first win with this team here at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix,” said Talbot.

“So much work has been put into this by so many people, I got pretty emotional when I saw that chequered flag.

“The car was phenomenal right throughout the weekend and the tyre strategy from the Walkinshaw GT3 boys gave me the chance to push strong.

“I was fortunate to avoid the start chaos and could get on with it and in the end I was able to control the pace and get the win.

“I’m super happy for the guys from MEGA Limited who have shown their faith in me this year along with the supporters of our program in Wash-It Mobile Truck Wash, Morris Finance and Urban Maintenance Systems.
“I couldn’t be happier right now…this is MEGA!”
